Jaipur Railway Stations See Festival Rush as Railways Prepare 50 Special Trains

Jaipur Junction is witnessing a festive passenger rush during Navratri and Dussehra, with travellers heading to Bihar, Bengal and Uttar Pradesh. The Railways is preparing special trains and 135 extra coaches across 48 trains to ease travel demand.

Jaipur: Railway and bus stations across Jaipur are witnessing a surge in passenger traffic during the Navratri and Dussehra festive season, with Jaipur Junction seeing a particularly heavy rush as people travel to their hometowns for the celebrations. Passengers from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal account for a significant share of the crowds, with many heading home for Durga Puja and Dussehra. In response to the growing number of travellers, the Railways has also introduced special trains and is preparing additional arrangements for the festive period.

A visit to ticket counters at Jaipur Junction to assess the passenger rush and train arrangements revealed differing experiences among travellers. Rajendra Kumar said passengers travelling from Jaipur to Bihar and West Bengal were particularly numerous during the Navratri and Dussehra festivals. He added that every year, Bihar, Bengal and Uttar Pradesh account for the largest number of passengers travelling from Jaipur during the festive season.

With confirmed tickets becoming difficult to secure and trains being cancelled in recent instances, some passengers have had to depend on buses. During the festive season, travellers also face the problem of being charged arbitrary fares. According to Rajendra Kumar, passenger numbers at Jaipur Junction have increased over the past two days, and the rush is expected to continue until Diwali.

He said the Railways arranges special trains every year for migrant passengers travelling from Jaipur to Bihar and Bengal. Preparations are also underway this year to operate special trains until Diwali so that people can reach their hometowns during the festive season.

Among the planned services, a weekly special train will operate from Khati Pura station to Kolkata. The Railways is continuing preparations for additional train services in view of the expected rise in passenger traffic during the festive season.

Passengers Report Train Availability and Confirmed Tickets

During the assessment of passenger traffic and railway arrangements at Jaipur Junction, some travellers reported that train services were available and their tickets had been confirmed. They said the Railways had made arrangements for passengers ahead of the festive season and that trains were continuing to arrive at Jaipur Junction on time.

The contrasting experiences underline the importance of festive travel arrangements, as the station handles increased passenger movement while the Railways prepares additional coaches and special services to accommodate travellers heading home for Navratri, Dussehra and Diwali.
